HOW TO DOWNLOAD FROM THE
INTERNET
One of the great things about the Internet
is all the fun and useful stuff available for downloading. But downloading can often
be tricky. Here are guidelines to help with some of the most common problems:
In order to keep track of your
downloads, create a Downloads folder on your hard drive. Make sure you always
browse and save to that location when the dialog box pops up as you start the
download process.
Default file names can often be odd
and confusing. Rename those files as soon as you start downloading them so
they're easy to find when you need them.
If you try to download a file and
get an error prompt during the process, the problem could be anything from a
busy server or a bad phone connection to a corrupt file. Try disconnecting from
the Net, then reconnect and try again. If it still doesn't work, try
downloading the file from another site.
To avoid viruses, only download
files from reputable sites and make sure you have an anti-virus program running
on your computer.
