10.1.2.    If the scanner does not have accompanying software, you can probably find installation software on the manufacturer’s web site in the Tech Support page.

10.2.          Usage

10.2.1.    Most scanners also have scanning software that allows you to operate the scanner and scan in information or pictures.

10.2.2.    To scan pictures, first you must select the scanning device. This is usually don on the File pull down menu. The selection is labeled “ Select Source…”.  Once you have selected the source you now can scan an item into the program. Then you select “Acquire…” on the File pull down menu.

10.2.3.    Once you have scanned in an image, you now want to use it. You can print, send it in an email, use for wallpaper on your desktop, save it for future reference (receipts), or many other uses.

10.2.3.1. Printing can be done in the scanning program by selecting Print from the File menu.

10.2.3.2. Sending in an email requires that you Save as… in the file menu. You should save it as a *.jpg (smaller file). Remember where you saved it and go to the email program. Some email programs allow you to insert the image into the body of the email. Or, you can attach it to the email.

10.2.3.3. To use the image as wallpaper on your desktop, you must save it as a *.bmp file. This is usually a larger file than a *.jpg. Remember where you saved it and go to the desktop. Right click on the desktop and select Properties. When you get the display properties dialog box, you select the background tab, go to the browse button, find the image you saved, and select it. When you say O.K. in the display properties box, you now should have the image you saved on the desktop.

10.2.3.4. If you save for future reference, you can use the scanning program to retrieve the image by using the Import… on the File pull down menu.
